Q: How long does it take to develop a tan?
A: This depends on your skin type, your current
skin color, and whether you use lotion. Some people may notice a
slight color change from just one session, but generally people
with the most common skin type can develop a base-tan in 5 to 10
sessions.
Q: How often should I tan?
A: When you first start to build your base, we
will develop a schedule for you based on your skin type, current
skin tone, and tanning history. After you have reached your desired
darkness, 2 to 3 sessions per week should be enough to maintain
your new tan. You should make every effort to wait about 24 hours
between sessions to avoid overexposure.
Q: What do I wear when tanning?
A: What ever you want! Once you enter one of our
private tanning rooms, it's all up to you. Some clients prefer to
remain in their undergarments; others bring their favorite swimsuits.
Others still, will tan in the buff. Should you choose to tan naked,
remember that areas not normally exposed may be sensitive, especially
when building your base, so you should cover those areas for portions
of your sessions and allow gradual exposure.
Q: Do I have to wear those goggles?
A: Absolutely!!! Your eyelids do not provide sufficient
protection against UV rays. You MUST wear approved goggles to avoid
serious retinal burns and possible long-term damage later in life.
We provide eyewear free of charge or you may purchase your own
Q: Do tanning accelerators/intensifiers really work?
A: Lotions that have been created for indoor tanning
help you: tan faster, replace and maintain moisture. Many help to
reduce and combat the signs of aging. By supplying your skin with
needed vitamins, minerals, amino acids, and moisture, these lotions
can help you tan faster than using no lotion at all. By using these
lotions you can tan faster in less sessions with less UV exposure.
This means smarter tanning! Please, lotions intended for OUTDOOR
use will damage bed acrylics and must not be used.
Q: Can I take a shower right after tanning?
A: Since taking a shower or bath removes the mantel
acid from your skin and will actually slow down or stop the tanning
process, we recommend that you not shower for about 1 hour before
your tan and 2 hours afterwards.
Q: After-tan itch?
A: A few hours after tanning you may experience
a minor "itching" sensation that is easily avoided by
using a moisturizing lotion after your session. This is caused by
your skin drying from the UV rays.
